Thanks to all of you, the day was a success. We had at least 1000 people participate. Of the people there 678 of them signed the petition we had that is going to Washington and Albany.
To followup with this to keep this going we want to keep collecting petitions until May 15th. To the right of this blog in the "Events Documents" section there is a Petition Signup Sheet and Petition Detail sheet. Please help us by getting as many signatures as you can get by May 15th.
You can send the petitions after you are done to Steuben County Young Republicans, 234 E. Pulteney St., Corning, NY 14830.
The Star-Gazette's Ray Finger does an article on the Corning Tax Day Teaparty. Ray interviews Peter Halliday, the President of the Steuben County Young Republicans. It's time to be a part of history. We need your help. Please email me at phalliday@excelsiorsystems.net if you can help volunteer the day of the event. Please be there at 5:15pm if you can volunteer. We will be collecting petitions for the event to send to Washington and Albany. We will be collecting food for a food drive to help the Salvation Army. We are also registering unregistered voters. All of this take effort, so please help us out.
Many people have asked about whether signs will be provided. This is a real grassroots effort, so we want you to bring your own sign. Personalize it. Make it the message you want to send.
You can use poster board and some markers. It doesn't have to be expensive or fancy. Just make sure it's big enough to see. Make sure the message is terse enough to read quickly.
Below are examples of some messages that can get your creative juices flowing. I'm not suggesting you use one of these. It's better for the message to be yours, but here are some ideas to get you started.

On Frank Acomb's radio show Frankly Speaking on Friday, Peter Halliday was interviewed by Mr. Acomb about the Tax Day Teaparty. Frank does a conservative talk show airing every weekday from 6am-9am on WENY radio.
In the interview, Frank asked Peter about the Teaparty why it's happening. What will happen that day. And other discussions.
Peter Halliday is the President of the Steuben County Young Republicans. They are an organization of people from 20-40 that are registered Republican and interested in politics and making a difference in their community.
We are rolling out our media push and so be watching the Hornell Evening Tribune as well as the Corning Leader. I've heard rumors of a story at the Star-Gazette. We also been interviewed on several radio shows. Stay tuned to get the links for them as they become available. Obviously, feel free to email any friend and family links to the stories.
We are rolling out radio advertising on a limited scale, and for those that might miss the piece we wanted you all to get a sneak peek. I think it reflects well the historic nature of this event. We only have a few days to get the word out, so we'd appreciate your help. Print up one of the posters to the right and help distribute them. Bring a food item to the protest. And stay tuned here for some sign ideas.
Thanks to two people Bill Nojay and Tim Kolpien for making the great radio piece. Mr. Nojay did the production of the commercial. Bill Nojay is a radio personality that can be caught wherever conservative talk radio can be heard. And if you don't get it demand it.
Tim Kolpien at Kolpien and Associates created a great script for the ad. If you see the ads in the newspaper they also did that for us as well. So, if you need any thing like this definitely give Kolpien and Associates a call.
